Whether you’re in search of the perfect romantic locale to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a loved one,  or just want to escape the cold winter doldrums, look no further than our favorite destinations – stateside and beyond. These beautiful properties are Fenimore Lane approved, from their award-winning spas to excellent culinary programs and beyond. Check out some of our favorite luxe destinations for winter solace, below.

Le Sereno, St. Barths

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway that’s warm and upscale, look no further than Le Sereno. Located on the chic island of St. Barths, this luxury hotel has everything you’re (probably) looking for—even a Valentine’s Day package that’s so much more than red roses and chocolates called Love, Le Sereno. Walk along the beach, head to the spa, or explore the island, Le Sereno is the place for you.

Destination Kohler - Kohler, WI

We’ve written about Destination Kohler before (specifically their spa), and think that even in the cold, it’s a must-visit. Offering everything from a five-star spa and wellness activities to their golf course that hosts championships like the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship, this Wisconsin resort knows how to host visitors even in the winter months. Their Celebration of Chocolate festival includes chef demonstrations, wine pairings, chocolate tastings, and more. There’s also Frozen Fairways, where the Blackwolf Run golf course is a venue for ice skating, curling, S’Mores, and more. Who says a cold-weather destination can’t be fun?

Delamar Hotel - Southport, CT

A local stay with New England charm, the Delamar Hotel in Southport makes for an ideal staycation. The hotel just opened its new spa that offers holistic relaxation practices, cutting-edge European spa treatments, and a sauna and steam shower (but of course!) Sign up for a private chocolate experience with Atelier BE CHOCOLAT, an immersive experience and private tasting with Benoit Racquet, the East Coast's only Belgian master chocolatier. Is there anything more romantic than that?!

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Islands

Where else would there be romance than in the Caribbean? Another luxurious hotel for a warm-weather vacation, the Ritz-Carlton is located on the famous Seven Mile Beach so you can take in the beachfront views, lounge in cabanas, and unwind at the spa. If you need to sweeten the deal even more, you can tell your partner there is a golf course.

QUAIL LODGE & GOLF CLUB, Carmel, CA

Whether it’s romance or the need to spend time outside, enjoy the best of Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and Mallard Lake, spend time in the great outdoors—whether it’s at the pool, on various nature trails, tennis and pickleball courts, or at the award-winning golf course. The lodge is hosting a Retreat to Romance, with amenities like complimentary wine, chocolates, and a lavender bath. Get a couple’s massage at the Spa Adeline, and indulge in a prix fixe menu for Valentine’s.

Wequassett Resort & Golf Club, Harwich, MA

This Cape Cod resort is a perfect spot for both locals and travelers alike. Situated with beautiful waterside views from all across the resort, the Wequassett Resort is a five star Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel. Besides the perks of fewer crowds and less traffic, the Wequassett Resort is offering a Forever Yours Escape package, including a spa treatment at the Le Petite Day Spa and a specially crafted menu at their five-star restaurant, twenty eight Atlantic, with a complimentary bottle of champagne.

The Mayflower Inn, Washington, CT

From the stunning interiors to the luxurious spa and grounds, The Mayflower Inn is always a good idea (just ask AO!) So if you’re looking for an idyllic escape for romance, head to the countryside for some R&R (and don’t miss the special events happening in February.) During Valentine’s Day weekend, the property will have complementary floral arrangements, a three-course pre-fixe menu from their Michelin-starred executive chef, and live music to follow. Quelle romantique.

The Four Seasons Resort, Palm Beach, FL

A favorite of AO’s (did you catch her latest stay?), the Four Seasons Palm Beach offers the authentic Palm Beach experience. This five-star hotel is located right on the ocean and a short drive from Worth Avenue, so you really get the full PB experience (and check out our guide to Palm Beach here). Spend the day at the spa, and celebrate the romantic holiday with a private cabana dinner offered all weekend long. Plus, there’s a poolside gelato cart every afternoon to make your stay even sweeter.
